Policy for Accepting Gifts

In accordance with our desire to maximize the benefit of CSU Libraries to our patrons, we have established the following policy regarding acceptance of gifts:

The Library does not accept gifts of books, journals, magazines, and other materials except those that might enhance our unique holdings in Special Collections and Archives. The Libraries still welcomes gifts of books written by CSU faculty which can be sent to the Libraries’ Head of Collection Strategies, Randyn Heisserer-Miller at (970) 491-8876 or Randyn.Heisserer-Miller@ColoState.edu.

The Libraries reviews offers of unique or rare books, personal papers and collections in a separate process conducted by Archives and Special Collections staff members. Materials accepted for the Archives and Special Collections will be processed and made available for use through that department. See Archives & Special Collections about donating your collection.

The Library does not normally accept unsolicited or anonymous gifts of any kind. However, monetary gifts are especially welcome and if you are considering making such a gift please contact Library Development.

Please feel free to contact us should you need more information. To discuss a potential donation to Special Collections, contact Mark Shelstad, Coordinator for Archives and Special Collections at (970) 491-2820 or Mark.Shelstad@ColoState.edu and for general questions about the gift policy contact Randyn Heisserer-Miller, Head of Collection Strategies at (970) 491-8876 or Randyn.Heisserer-Miller@ColoState.edu.
