Head of Collection Strategies

The Head of Collection Strategies is pivotal in overseeing the library’s general collections. With strong support from the administration of the Colorado State University Libraries, the Head of Collection Strategies will help further University goals, integrate the CSU Principles of Community into the work of the CSU Libraries, and foster a culture of innovation and inclusion.

The Head of Collection Strategies provides strategic, flexible, and creative leadership for a team of professionals. In this role, you will manage a significant budget and make decisions to maximize the value and impact of our collections. You will set the vision for the Libraries’ general collection and will represent CSU Libraries in regional and national consortia.

Student Positions

All positions for student employees appear on RAMWeb under the Student Employment link. Most hiring usually happens in August and September, but positions are posted throughout the year.

Internship and Practicum Positions

The Libraries is committed to its employee workforce and professional standards in librarianship. We routinely hire paid interns from both the CSU community and MLS/MLIS degree-seeking students from other universities.

Internships

All internships at the CSU Libraries are paid. We don’t hire for unpaid internships, even when course credit is assigned, due to the role of unpaid internship positions in deepening inequities in the workforce. Student internships are posted on CSU’s student job site, Handshake.

Practicums

If you’re a student looking for practicum experience, contact the Libraries’ Human Resources Department at Library_Human_Resources@colostate.edu. Available positions are posted on CSU’s student job site, Handshake, or CSU’s professional job site. We may not have practicum opportunities available every semester. Practicum students are responsible for preparing a proposal for work and how it fulfills both the student’s educational goals and the Libraries’ mission. The completion and evaluation of a practicum is a collaboration among a student, their faculty advisor and their library supervisor.

Volunteer Positions

The Libraries doesn’t have a volunteer program because we prioritize hiring student employees. We value Service as a Principle of Community and encourage community members interested in volunteering to explore the many opportunities at CSU and in the Fort Collins area.

Equity & Social Justice at the Libraries

At the CSU Libraries, we are reflecting on our role in creating an equitable and just society and how we can help dismantle systems of oppression present in our profession, our libraries and on our campus.
