Ellen Wohl holds degrees in geology from Arizona State University (BS) and the University of Arizona (PhD). She joined the faculty at CSU in 1989. Her research interests focus on physical processes in rivers, with most of her work concentrating in rivers in bedrock canyons and in mountainous environments. She has conducted field work on all continents except Antarctica, and has written Virtual Rivers: Lessons from the Mountain Rivers of the Colorado Front Range and Disconnected Rivers: Linking Rivers to Landscapes (both Yale University Press) about the effects of human activities on rivers.
