Camp

The Colorado Farmers Union education program for young people was started in 1936. From the beginning, summer camp formed a part of that educational experience. Thirty boys and girls attended the 1936 camp at Geneva Glen, and later camps were held at other locations in Colorado and Wyoming, including the area near the Red Rocks amphitheatre west of Denver. In June, 1960 the youth camp location was moved to Bailey, Colorado, the site of a new facility owned and operated by the National Farmers Union and its affiliated state organizations.

In addition to sports and other recreational activities, the young people participated in educational programs aimed at increasing their understanding of democratic government, cooperative business enterprise, farm economics and ethics.
