Circulating Technology Policy
The CSU Libraries circulates laptops, iPads, Chromebooks, video cameras, and other devices to CSU faculty, staff and students. You must have a current CSU/photo ID and a valid patron account to borrow materials. Borrowers are financially responsible for loss, damage or fines.
All circulating technology is subject to fines and fees if returned late, lost or damaged. Loan rules vary by device. Refer to the label on the device or case for detailed information about the item’s loan period, renewals, and any applicable fines/fees. Many devices circulate with accessories, such as a charger, which are also checked out to the patron’s account and may be subject to additional fines.
Items can be returned within the first 60 days after the due date; after 60 days, the Libraries will not accept returned technology items and will not issue refunds for the replacement cost.
Circulating technology should be returned to a library staff member at the Loan & Reserve Desk. Do not leave items on the counter unattended. Library staff will provide a proof-of-return receipt upon request.
Patrons are responsible for ensuring that laptops and other devices have sufficient power and that all work is saved to a personal USB device or external hard drive. (Library technology is re-imaged and/or wiped frequently, and material saved on devices cannot be retrieved.)
