Circulating Technology Policy

The CSU Libraries circulates laptops, chargers, and other devices to CSU faculty, staff and students. You must have a current CSU/photo ID and a valid patron account to borrow materials. Borrowers are financially responsible for loss, damage or fines.

All circulating technology is subject to fines and fees if returned late, lost or damaged. Refer to the label on the device or case for detailed information about the item’s loan period, renewals, and any applicable fines/fees. Many devices circulate with additional items, such as a charger, which are also checked out to the patron’s account and may be subject to additional fines.

An overdue item will be accepted for return within the first 60 days after the due date for refund consideration of replacement cost; overdue fees still apply. After 60 days, the library will not accept overdue technology items and will not issue refunds for the replacement cost.

Circulating technology should be returned to a library staff member at the Library Services Desk. Do not leave items on the counter unattended or return through the book drops. Library staff will provide a proof-of-return receipt upon request.

Patrons are responsible for ensuring that laptops and other devices have sufficient power and that all work is saved to cloud storage, a personal USB device or external hard drive. Library technology is sanitized and wiped of patron information upon return. Any material deleted from the device cannot be retrieved.
