Faculty and Staff Positions

Fostering a Diverse and Inclusive Community

At Colorado State University, diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than words – they are a call to action. The CSU Libraries supports this vision with a commitment to boosting equitable access to knowledge by eliminating barriers to discovery. We seek candidates from a rich diversity of lived experiences who are excited to work with users in an inclusive university community that welcomes and affirms diversity of people, identities, perspectives, and ideas.

Applicants are encouraged to think broadly about and communicate how their skills and experiences transfer to the qualifications in ways that may not be obvious. We strongly encourage those who will further advance the Libraries’ commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community, including those from historically underrepresented groups, to apply for positions. We welcome applicants with a range of experiences, including those new to the profession.

Salary Ranges and New Hire Offers

In the spirit of transparency and equity, the CSU Libraries offers the best and most equitable salary we have funding for. We perform salary equity analyses prior to posting positions in order to identify an applicable range, and we make an offer within equity range of current employee salaries. Our practice is to not negotiate on salary offers, and we welcome any questions about how we calculated the salary offer. If we made an error in the analysis, we may update the offer.

Faculty Rank at Appointment/Hire

Continuing Faculty and Tenure Track Faculty positions are appointed at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. Most new hires are appointed at assistant or associate professor. Appointment at associate professor rank requires six years of relevant professional experience in addition to meeting criteria as specified for rank by the Libraries Code.

Contract faculty are hired at the rank of instructor.

Our Culture and Values

At an organizational level, these are some of the ways we set the tone for an inclusive, collaborative, people-centered work environment.

  • Flexible Work: Employees work with supervisors to develop individualized flexible work plans appropriate for employee needs, position duties, departmental needs, and University policies.
  • Principles of Community: The Libraries has adopted CSU’s Principles of Community (Inclusion, Integrity, Respect, Service, Social Justice) as our organizational values. We encourage all employees to reflect on how those principles translate into their daily work.
  • Equity and Social Justice Focus: We strive to find ways to center equity and social justice work in our goals, priorities and daily work. The Equity and Social Justice Advisory Group is a cornerstone of our equity and social justice work, and departments are empowered to advance strategic goals related to equity in their areas. All library unit heads take the Inclusive Manager’s Toolkit from DeEtta Jones, & Assoc.
  • Sense of Belonging: You’ll have plentiful opportunities to connect with your colleagues at the CSU Libraries and develop a sense of belonging. Beyond our professional interactions, our Social Crew keeps us connected to each other through diverse virtual and in-person get-togethers that give us excuses to laugh, learn and share.
  • Professional Development for All: Library administration ensures equitable access to professional development funds for all full-time employees. We also encourage supervisors to work with employees to identify and support professional development opportunities. For Contract and Continuing Faculty, the University funds a unique program that allows release time to pursue position-related professional development, similar to sabbatical.
  • Habitual Gratitude: We routinely recognize the impactful work that happens at all levels of our organization, in all-staff meetings, on Teams channels, and with annual faculty and staff awards that come with a monetary or professional development award.
  • Commitment to Campus: Colorado State University’s Commitment to Campus encompasses a wide range of programs, discounts, and special benefits available to CSU faculty and staff. These include opportunities related to athletics, health and wellness, family and home, education, off-campus businesses, and more.
