Abstract: Mary Alice Lindblad, teacher, author and resident of rural Severance, Colorado, was born on April 21, 1921. She is the author of two local histories: A Walk Through Windsor, 1940-1980 and Tales of Tailholt: The Story of Severance (1985). The collection consists of papers and audio-visual materials (1913-1985) used in writing her Tales of Tailholt. Included is biographical information of early families and their relatives in the Severance area. There are also glass plate negatives, photographs, clippings, photocopies of a variety of documents supporting her research, and one cassette tape interview.

Biography

Mary Alice Lindblad, teacher, author and resident of rural Severance, Colorado, was born on April 21, 1921. She received an M.A. from Colorado State College, Greeley, in 1960, and taught in the Windsor school system for more than 20 years. She is the author of two local histories: A Walk Through Windsor, 1940-1980 (1980) and Tales of Tailholt: The Story of Severance (1985). Mary Alice Lindblad is married to Burnice E. Lindblad.

Scope and Contents

The Papers of Mary Alice Lindblad consists of research and audio-visual materials dated 1913-1985 used in writing her Tales of Tailholt: The Story of Severance. Included is biographical information of early families and their relatives in the Severance area. There are also glass plate negatives, photographs, clippings, photocopies of a variety of documents supporting her research, and one cassette tape interview.

The Papers of Mary Alice Lindblad was acquired by the Colorado Agricultural Archives in November 1985.

Processing

Processing was completed in September 2004. Materials were placed in acid free folders and reboxed, and metal fasteners were removed.

Series Descriptions

Series I: Papers, 1970-1984 (0.25 linear feet)

This series consists of Lindblad's notes and photocopies of materials used in her research, as well as some newspaper and magazine clippings of articles dealing with Severance. Included are family histories with biographical information of early families and their relatives in the Severance area (Icel and Joyce Johnson; D.E. Severance; Lorenzo Dow Law and Edna Lambert Law; Andrew Law and Margaret Waldek; the Ehrlich Farm; the Wailes Farm), with one tape cassette interview of Fred Whitmore (1981). Clippings, primarily from local papers, and photocopies of a variety of documents (the originals dating from 1890-1919) supporting her research are also included.

This series consists of one cassette tape, 29 glass plate negatives from around 1913, and 26 photographs, both labeled and unlabeled, of the Severance area, most from between 1970 and 1985.
