Fall 2020 Updates

Welcome back, Rams!

The Libraries is the heart of learning, teaching and research on campus. We have been carefully planning how to adapt our spaces and services so that we can continue to support learning at Colorado State University, physically and virtually.

This page spotlights some of the public health precautions at the Libraries, and some of the modifications we have made to our services. Please continue to refer back to it as the semester progresses.

We need your help

We can’t do this alone–your support is essential! When you visit one of our libraries, we ask that you please remember to follow these five key actions:

  1. Physical distancing
  2. Wear a mask or face covering
  3. Practice proper hand washing
  4. Clean surfaces
  5. Stay home if you’re sick or you’ve been instructed to isolate/quarantine

Wondering about the science behind the 5 key actions? Check out our resource: Why We Mask.

Questions? Feedback?

Feel free to ask us anything at library_help@colostate.edu or use our 24/7 chat service.

Public Health Precautions

Building Access

Library access is currently limited to CSU students, faculty and staff. A RamCard is required to enter the building.

Computer Lab
  • The Morgan Library Computer Lab is open during normal hours.
  • Printing is available.
  • The number of computers in our lab has been reduced significantly so that computers are spaced at least six feet apart.
  • Please use provided disinfectant materials to sanitize your work area before you sit down.
  • Each keyboard has a reusable cover to make cleaning easier and more effective.
  • CSU students, faculty and staff can access some software from the Morgan Library Computer Lab online. See Remote Computer Access for instructions.
Study Areas
  • Furniture in study areas has been rearranged and reduced in areas so that tables and/or seats are spaced at least six feet apart.
  • Please use provided disinfectant materials to sanitize your work area before you sit down.
  • Wear a mask at all times--even if you are sitting alone.
Loan & Reserve Desk and Help Desk
  • Plexiglass shields have been installed at our service desks.
  • When standing in line, please remember to keep six feet from others in line.
Items for checkout
  • Our technology available for check out, like laptops and chargers, will be cleaned between each checkout, as usual.
  • Out of an abundance of caution, books will be quarantined a minimum of 72 hours before being re-shelved.

Borrowing and Returning Items

Requesting books - CSU students, faculty and staff

If you are a CSU student, faculty or staff member, you can request books through Primo. Books requested through Primo will be delivered based on options available to you and which one you select.

  • If you choose “Morgan Library,” you will receive an email when it is available for pick up at the library. It will be held for 10 business days.
  • Scrolling down in the “Pickup Location” section will provide options (based on your affiliation with the university) for “Personal Delivery”.
    • If you have a campus office, select “Office Delivery” for the fastest delivery option. (This option will not be available for everyone.)
    • If you are sure the university has your current mailing address, select “Home Delivery." (This option will not be available for everyone.)
    • If you need to request an item be mailed to a different address, you will see an area in the bottom of the request box to provide “Current Mailing Address.” Please enter your full address, including apt #, city, state and zip code.

Allow 7-10 days for delivery if selecting “Home Delivery” or providing a different address than what is on record with the university.

If you have questions, please contact us at library_help@colostate.edu.

Requesting books - Non-CSU users

If you are a community user (no affiliation with CSU), you can request CSU Libraries-owned books through your local public library. To request our books, use Prospector and your public library card information.

Returning items already checked out

All CSU books for all patrons are due back on November 20th, 2020, or before. Renewals are permitted if item is not recalled by another patron.

Due dates for ILL materials are set by the lending library.

If you are not in Fort Collins, you may complete this online form to Request a Shipping Label and ship your library materials back to us at no expense to you.

If you have additional questions, please contact us at library_help@colostate.edu.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan is open for requests for both physical and digital materials.

Books will be held for pickup at the Loan and Reserve desk. If you need your items mailed to you, please verify the address on your Interlibrary Loan account is correct and up to date. (Check your address by logging into your account.) Mailing books will decrease the length of time you have to use the book. Please allow a week to 10 days for the book to arrive. To submit an ILL request, create or log in to your ILL account.

You can request articles and book chapters. All copies will be delivered electronically to your Interlibrary Loan account.

If you have any questions, please email Interlibrary Loan at library_illstaff@mail.colostate.edu.

Prospector loans

Prospector loans will be held at the Loan and Reserve Desk or mailed to faculty offices.

If you need accommodations for book delivery, please email Interlibrary Loan at library_illstaff@mail.colostate.edu.
