Although the CSU Libraries are physically closed, we are available virtually to help with your research needs! See the FAQ below for information on specific library services. Or, contact us via e-mail or 24/7 live chat at Ask Us for assistance.

To access library e-resources in Spring 2020, first log out of Pulse Secure or secure.colostate.edu. The University is prioritizing VPN access for critical services. After logging out, just click on the e-resource and you will be prompted to enter your eID information.

CSU has created a site with tips for online learning and links to campus resources called Keep Learning.

Building Access

The Cube

The Cube at Morgan Library is closed until further notice.

Community patrons and visitors

At the current time, online and virtual services are only available to CSU students, faculty and staff.

Technology

Computer labs and printing on campus

CSU Libraries buildings are closed.  Virtual and online services will still be available to CSU students, faculty, and staff.  Please visit our website.

Students currently living in the dorms can print in the dorms.

Laptops for loan

The CSU Libraries expects to have additional MAC laptops for loan soon. These laptops will be on extended loan through May 18, 2020. We have created a request form for any remaining students who do not have a computer, and who need one to complete their studies. To request a computer, complete this online form. When additional laptops become available, students will be be contacted via email to discuss shipping options. Laptops are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Returning laptops

The due date for all items, including laptops, has been automatically extended through May 18.  If you have any questions, please send an email to library_help@colostate.edu.

Technical issues with checked out laptops

If you have software issues (connecting your laptop to wi-fi, downloading software, or other questions about your personal computer) contact the CSU Central IT Technical Support Helpdesk.

For hardware issues with a laptop checked out from CSU Libraries, email library_technology_support@colostate.edu.

Assistive Technology

If you are a current user of the Assistive Technology (AT) rooms, we recognize a lack of access to the AT rooms might present a hardship.   If that is the case, please reach out to the Assistive Technology Resource Center (ATRC) and leave a voice mail at 491-6258 or email the ATRC at atrc@colostate.edu so that ATRC can work with you to find alternative solutions.

VPN access is being prioritized for critical University services. Please log off before trying to access library resources.

CCHS Employees: The solution for CHHS employees using work desktops or laptops is to connect to Citrix light version (in-browser version) and then access library resources. Additional inquiries must go through chhshelpdesk@colostate.edu.

Finding eBooks

CSU Libraries has over 100,000 eBooks covering a wide spectrum of academic topics. Students, staff, and faculty are able to access these eBooks from both on- and off-campus.

Finding journal articles

Discover how to get the full-text of articles, save them, and cite them--basically, everything you need to do once you find articles you like. The examples are from Academic Search Premier, but the tools and strategies apply to many databases.

Borrowing and Returning Items

Requesting books

CSU Libraries buildings are closed.

Books that have been requested through Primo will be mailed to CSU students, faculty, and staff.  Be sure to include your current mailing address in the comments field.

Returning items already checked out

The due date for all items, including laptops, has been automatically extended through May 18.  If you have any questions, please send an email to library_help@colostate.edu.

Book Drops

The book drops are open for return of books only.  Do not return laptops in these drops.

    • North side of building, just to the west of the Cube entrance
    • South side of building, inside glass doors

Due to limited library services at this time, books are not being immediately checked in so you may still see a book listed on your account.  However, all due dates have been extended to May 18, so you will not be accruing any late charges.

Mailing Items

If mailing back CSU books, the CSU Libraries highly recommends returning items via:

    • Insured Postal Mail
    • UPS
    • Federal Express

If item is lost, your receipt from the postal service will be needed to track the package for resolution.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Although ILL is not currently able to process requests for physical materials, you can still request journal articles, book chapters, and other materials that can be digitally scanned and delivered!  To submit an ILL request, create or login to your ILL account.

Prospector loans

Prospector has turned off borrowing and lending of materials between libraries because so many member libraries are currently closed. The Prospector system is still online and users can search it for available e-resources.

Classroom reservations

All classroom reservations have been canceled. We are not accepting new reservations for Spring 2020 at this time, in order to provide additional computer access to all CSU-affiliated students, faculty, and staff while we all navigate this challenging move to online teaching and learning. Instructors can reserve classrooms for Summer 2020.

Online library instruction

Librarians are ready to teach your students! Faculty and instructors can still request library instruction for their students. Ask your librarian about which online options they can accommodate.

Digital versions of shelf reserve, DVD/VHS items

Faculty can request digital versions of print reserves by emailing library_elecmono@mail.colostate.edu.

Instructors interested in providing digitized versions of DVD/VHS items are encouraged to contact CSU Classroom Support Services.

Online Research Consultations for Students and Faculty

If you want to schedule a research consultation, librarians are happy to help! Consultations are available by video or phone. You can reach out to your librarian directly to request an online consultation.
