Veterinary Teaching Hospital Library

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) Library, a branch of the Colorado State University Libraries, was established in 1979 through a generous donation by the Harry E. Kingman family.
The collection is designed to serve the faculty, staff, and students at the VTH and emphasizes clinical, medical, and veterinary literature to support the hospital’s teaching and research missions. Read more about our collection and history.
We welcome all patrons and provide services for the general public, practicing veterinarians, and CSU students, staff, and faculty.
Borrowing
All items circulate for 7 days (one week) with option to renew, unless an item is on reserve (loan times vary, but include room use only, 24-hours, and 72-hours).
To check items out of the library, patrons must have a community borrowing card (Colorado residents only) or CSU Ram Card (CSU students, staff, and faculty only).
Colorado residents may obtain a community library card from Morgan Library and check out materials from the VTH Library and Morgan Library.
CSU patrons may activate their RAM Card to serve as a public library card and check out items at Poudre River Public Library locations.
Reference Services
Reference services and research help are available for all patrons Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The library is open during evenings and weekends, but reference services are limited during these times.
Library help is available 24/7 via chat, in-person at the library during operating hours, via email, and over the phone (970-297-1213). Please note that email inquiries may take up to a day to receive an initial response.
Course Reserves
Per faculty request, books may be placed on reserve. Reserve books have shorter loan periods (room use only, 24-hours, or 72-hours). Contact the library staff to request that a book be placed on reserve or to ask about putting electronic items (books, articles) on reserve in Canvas.
Veterinary Research Guide
If you are conducting research in Veterinary Medicine, please visit our Veterinary Medicine research guide. The guide is a curated collection of references to library and public resources for researchers, veterinary professionals, farm animal owners and pet owners.
