Sharron Riesberg lead a writing workshop in Weld County in the fall of 2005 both online and in-person via the Eaton Public Library.
I am a proud native of Colorado. Born in Fitzsimmons General Hospital to parents descended from Colorado pioneers, I was soon taken from the state (my father was in the Air Force) to other areas of the world (including Scotland and England). My love for Colorado grew through the reminiscences of my parents and our occasional visits. I remember long car trips across the plains, heading for the tantalizing Rocky Mountains and glorious Denver. Colorado has a spirit and atmosphere I have found nowhere else in the world: continuous sunshine, beauty of mountains and plains, and citizens’ unpretentious attitudes, as well as many other attractions. At the age of eighteen, I arrived in Greeley to begin school at UNC, then CSC, and except for a few forays (including two years in Texas), I have remained here since.
My work background includes positions in several libraries: Longmont, Colorado; Moody Library at Baylor University, Waco, Texas; Aims Community College in Greeley. I have taught classes and tutored students at UNC for the last nineteen years. I also taught at Aims Community College for a few years. I have been involved in many writing projects, but my greatest joy in teaching remains with the students. Young people are our most precious resource, and we can be proud of our Colorado kids.
My husband and I have been married for forty-one years, and we are parents of daughter Dorie, a special education teacher in Littleton, Colorado, and our son Paul, a computer programmer in Greeley. Our children have blessed us with five grandchildren, Lara (16), Emily (13), Bethany (7), Alexandria (6), and Atom (4).
