The ocean, the largest biome on Earth, covers more than
75% of the world's surface. The ocean biome consists of the Pacific Ocean,
Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean which all merge into
each other at some location. Because the ocean is so large, many animals
remain undiscovered or identified. The oceans are all continuously in
motion resulting in currents (or waves) that may either be warm or cold
depending on the weather or temperature of that area. Because the ocean
is so large and still being explored by submersible machines, much is
left to learn about the creatures that inhabit this biome.
Conservation issues are very important because human pollution and over fishing has greatly affected many animals that inhabit the ocean. With the advancements in technology, hopefully we will learn to respect and protect the world's oceans.
