How long will it take to complete the workbook and quiz?
This depends on how many tutorials are in the workbook. The average time for the tutorials is less than
five minutes, and the average length of the quiz is no more than ten minutes. You do not have to work
through all of the tutorials at the same time. You can come back and take the quiz whenever you feel
like it. You also have the option of skipping the tutorials and going straight for the quiz if you feel
ready to take it.
What happened to my quiz results? I never received them in my
email!
There could be several possibilities. Did you enter your email address correctly? Redo the quiz and
double check. Did you hit the back button before you finished the quiz? If you abort the quiz before
the last question, either by closing the quiz window or hitting the back button, your quiz score will
not be sent.
How many times can I view the tutorials before I take the quiz?
You may view the tutorials as many times as you need to before you begin the quiz.
How many times can I take the quiz?
If you are doing a workbook for a class, check with your instructor about how many times they will accept quiz
results. It depends on the limits imposed by your individual instructor. Be aware that once you register to take
the quiz and select your teachers' email address, your quiz score will be sent to the instructor BEFORE you see
the score. If you abort the quiz before the last question, either by closing the quiz window or hitting the
back button, your quiz score will not be sent. If you are doing the workbook on your own, you may take the
quiz as many times as you like.
Why can't I view the tutorials?
The online workbooks require the following:
If you are still having trouble viewing the tutorials, please contact the Computer-Aided Instruction team.
Why isn't there a tutorial about...?
We have created tutorials for what we perceive to be the types of questions people have about using the
library. However, if you have a suggestion for a future tutorial, we would be happy to consider it.
Please let us know.
How can I create a workbook for my class?
Contact the Computer-Aided
Instruction team to have them set up a workbook customized for your class. Choose from any of the
tutorials on these topics:
Should I use a workbook for my class INSTEAD of bringing them in for a
face-to-face library session?
That is really up to you. You might want to have your students do the workbook and take the quiz to
see how they do, and then decide if a trip to the library seems necessary. We are always happy to
have your classes come to the library to meet with a librarian in person. More detailed instruction
can take place if your students already have some basics under their belt from the workbook. You can
set up your instruction requests with a
subject librarian, by using
this online form, or by contacting
Patrick McCarthy, Coordinator
for Library Instruction.
(CO150 instruction requests should be sent to
Sari Keilman
or you may fill out this instruction
request form.)
How can I add my e-mail address to the list of instructors on the pull-down
menu for students taking the quiz?
Contact the Computer-Aided
Instruction team and they will add your e-mail address to the list.
How can I get my name off the list of e-mail addresses? I'm tired of getting these e-mails from my students. Contact the Computer-Aided Instruction team to have your name removed from the e-mail address list. You might also set some parameters for your students regarding how many chances they have when taking the quiz. You could tell them you will only record the first score you receive, or the best of two, etc. It's up to you.
