Electronic Databases for Horticulture and Landscape Architecture

CSU Libraries subscribes to many electronic databases. Listed below are the major ones which index Horticulture and Landscape Architecture literature. To use these databases, you must use a computer on the CSU campus, connect via your CSU computer account, or qualify for remote access as specified on the Distance Users webpage.

Databases for Horticulture & Landscape Architecture

  • AGRICOLA - Useful for Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. A bibliographic database which indexes journal articles, monographs, proceedings, theses, patents, translations, audiovisual materials, computer software, and technical reports pertaining to all aspects of agriculture. Primarily in English but about one-third of the citations are in another language.
  • Art Index - Useful for Landscape Architecture. Indexes key international english-language arts publications including periodicals, yearbooks, museum bulletins, etc.
  • Biological Abstracts - Useful for Horticulture. A bibliographic database which indexes journal articles in the fields of agriculture, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, botany, ecology, microbiology, pharmacology, and zoology. Coverage is international. Approximately 75% of the records include abstracts.
  • CAB Abstracts - Most useful for horticulture and related topics; however, it does include some articles on landscape architecture, landscape conservation, landscape ecology, landscape gardening and landscaping. Covers over 10,000 journals plus monographs, conferences, theses, technical reports, patents & other sources from over 100 countries. Most records have English abstracts.
  • Digital Dissertations and Theses - Indexes theses and dissertations from more than 450 institutions from 1861 with full text beginning in 1997.
  • EBSCO Academic Search Premier - A multidisciplinary database with many fulltext articles. For scholarly articles select the limit feature, "Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals".
  • EBSCO Business Source Premier - Useful for articles on the horticulture and landscape architecture industries. Many fulltext articles.
  • Plant Science - a bibliographic database containing citations and abstracts of scientific literature on plant science, focussing on all plant scientific aspects, especially on pathology, symbiosis, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology, techniques and environmental biology.
  • Prospector - A unified catalog of 16 academic, public, and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. Identify books in other libraries, request them, and have them delivered to the CSU library.
  • Science Direct - ScienceDirect offers more than a quarter of the world's scientific, medical and technical information online; over 2,000 peer-reviewed journals, hundreds of book series, handbooks and reference works, back to volume one, issue one
  • Web of Science - The online version of Science Citation Index, Social Science and Humanities Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Indexes the most cited 10% of the world's journal titles.
  • WorldCat - World Cat is an international bibliographic database which is excellent for verifying information on books and serial titles. Useful options include the ability to see a list of the libraries which own a particular title and to enter an interlibrary loan request for an item while in the database.
