Federal Government Publications: STAT-USA Alternatives

Economic Indicators:

  • Economic Statistics Briefing Room
    Provides basic major economic indicators.
  • Economic Indicators.gov
    Includes about 20 indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and US Census Bureau.
  • Overview of the Economy
    Approximately 10 economic statistics from the Bureau of Economic Analysis; includes GDP.
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics
    Valuable for the Consumer Price Index and similar price and wage indices.

    Many additional economic, financial, and monetary indicators are available.  The two sites below are entries for these additional indicators.
  • Federal Government Resources for the Economy   (CSU)
    Provides links to the major federal agencies dealing in indicators.
  • Interactive Data Tables (Bureau of Economic Analysis)
    These interactive income and product accounts tables often provide both historical and current data.

    Country Commercial Guides: free; registration not required.
    Industry Sector Analyses: registration required, but free for students and researchers.

    Detailed descriptions of energy production and needs of each nation.
  • Background Notes  (Department of State)
    Provides a brief overview of each nation.
  • CIA World Factbook
    A basic source for a beginning information on each country.
