    An excellent starting point.  "Parks & Recreation" provides useful information about each park.  "Nature & Science" is especially helpful for four biology resources pertaining to ecosystem management, invasive species, endangered species, and wildlife management.  "History & Culture" sites are described below.

    Visitor data both system-wide and for individual units.

    From this Washington Office site, click on "NPS Management Policies" for documents pertaining to recent management controversies.
  • Coalition of National Park Service Retirees
    Not a government site, but useful for recent issues.
  • Water Resource Publications
    Access to full text professional literature on water resource issues in the parks.

    Full text articles on NPS archaeology and ethnography for the layperson.  Online archive is from 2003 to the present.  Print issues from 1996 to the present are at:

  • Park Science
    Articles on science as it relates to park management can be found here.  Both the online archive and the print magazine (I29.3/4  Doc) extend from 1981 to the present.

    Published 1991 to the present.  Many are online at the individual park web sites.
  • Historical Handbook Series.   I29.58  Doc
    Published 1950-1970s.  Many of these older handbooks are online at Park Histories.
  • National Survey of Historic Sites and Buildings.   I29.2:H69/9  Doc
    These narrative books represent a pioneering survey done in the 1950s and 1960s.
  • NPS Handbooks.   I29.9/5  Doc
    These attractive handbooks describe individual parks or historic themes.
