Academic Search Premier (date coverage varies by title) large database with subject specific and general/interdisciplinary sources on a broad range of topics. Includes images and a number of full text publications in text-only format or PDF format. Applied Science & Technology Index (1983-present) references articles in journals, magazines and trade publications in engineering, technology and construction management; a good database for searches on construction topics. Architectural Index (1982-1988) online coverage indexing articles from major architectural periodicals for 1982-1988; print version of the index (1950-present) is available at Z5941 .A66 with the most recent years in REF SOUTH and previous years in MOVABLE SHELVES. Older coverage may be spotty due to the flood. Art Index: (1984-present) includes over 417,000 records from over 400 leading art publications from around the world. Indexes major English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as European periodicals in a number of different languages. Various formats are included, such as bibliographies, notices of competitions and awards, reports of conferences, exhibition listings, review articles, interviews, and film reviews. Allows image searching, but provides a citation only to the publication which contains the image. The print version (1929-1998) is available in REF SOUTH at Z5937 .A78. Arts & Humanities Citation Index: (1975-present) provides citations to scholarly journal articles, reviews, and meeting abstracts in art, classics, literature, philosophy, religion and related subjects. Links are available to find authors who have cited a particular article via a "Cited Reference" search. Can be searched simultaneously with the Arts & Humanties and the Science Citation Indexes via Web of Science. Biography and Geneaology MasterIndex (updated biannually) comprehensive index to 12 million biographical sketches which can be found in varous reference sources. Check Morgan Library holdings for call numbers to these individual sources. Biography Index scans 2,700 journals and 1,800 books on a regular basis. A good source to get information on a specific artist. Covers 1984 to the present. Blue Book of Building and Construction online directory of over 1 million companies searchable by state and company name. [FREE] Business/Industry (1972-present) indexes articles on a large number of businesses, industries and related issues. Industries such as construction, architecture, design, and textiles are included. Business Source Premier (date coverage varies by title) a large scale database and full text service that indexes articles in abstract and full text format (coverage varies from article to article) from scholarly journal and popular press magazines. Full text versions of Company Profiles are also available by selecting the "Company Profiles" tab. Art Online (updates vary) online version of the monumental 36-volume print version with encyclopedia-like entries to major periods and themes in the history of art; includes over 41,000 articles, news, external Web links, a hyperlinked aphabetical index and the Bridgeman Art Library. Bridgeman contains over 100,000 images of works in situ, architectural works, paintings and other museum holdings. Humanities International Index (Varies) indexes articles, book reviews, interviews, obituaries, bibliographies, original works of fiction (including dramas and poems), and reviews of plays, television and radio programs. Over 2,000,000 records from over 2,000 sources, including scholarly journals and specialized magazines with some art and design titles covered. Updates are monthly. InformeDesign (1997-present) is a research and communication tool for designers of the built environment, such as interior designers, architects, landscape architects, and graphic designers. It contains a database of Research Summaries about design and human behavior research, accessible through either a full-text search or by using the topics listed within the three main categories, Space, Issues, or Occupants.[FREE- University of Minnesota] Medline (1966-present) [via Ovid] a large scale database that indexes articles on all topics of medicine from scholarly peer reviewed journals. Some coverage is available on medical textiles and health care facility design. PsychInfo (1887-present) the core database for psychology and related disciplines. Often a good source for abstracts to journal articles, proceedings, chapters in books or dissertations in areas related to design like environmental design. RIBA Catalogue the RIBA Architectural Library, known as the largest and most comprehensiveresource in the United Kingdom for research and information on all aspects of architecture, provides free online access to the library catalogue. Includes are over 200,000 records with abstracts, describing journal articles, books, drawings, photographs, manuscripts and archives. [FREE: RIBA/Royal Institute of British Architects] Social Sciences Citation Index (1956-present) comprehensive index to articles in scholarly journals, reviews, and meeting abstracts in over 50 disciplines. Averages 2,700 new records per week and approximately 50,500 new cited references per week.
