Saved Search Alerts

ABC-CLIO - is the name of the platform (vendor) that hosts the databases listed below. The interface will look the same when searching the following databases and the process for setting up an alert will be the same.

  1. You first need to set up an account with ABC-CLIO and establish a password in the Profile Editor. Start by selecting [ CLIO Alert Profile ] from the main search screen.
  2. Enter a username (it is case sensitive—and no /*#-type characters) and click on the button.
  3. Enter the e-mail address to which the alerts should be sent in the "Your e-mail address" box.
  4. Establish and verify a password.
  5. Select ASCII text or Tab delimited as your preferred Output Format (ASCII text is the default). It will be the same for all of your alerts.

To set up alerts for new articles in the database(s), while in the Profile Editor:

  1. Choose for the Alert to be run against America: History and Life (AHL) and/or Historical Abstracts (HA).
  2. Create each alert using relevant Subject Terms, Author, Time Period, Language, and Document Type fields.
  3. 3. You must save your new alert(s)—select the button. You will then exit from the Profile Editor.
