Table for one

You had your class come to the library, but somebody was out sick that day. Email them a link to your library workbook, and they can get a hearty dose of library instruction from home. We have some pre-made workbooks to choose from as well… " Get to Know the Library!" and "Essential Skills for Graduate Students".

Hors d'oeuvres

You like the face to face instruction sessions you've had with your librarian all along, but you' re tired of hearing how to set up a library PIN over and over again. Have your class prep themselves for their face to face session by working through a few of the basic tutorials ahead of time. They will be primed for the library and ready to dig into more advanced lessons.

Appetizer/Dessert combo

So your class started to grumble at the idea of coming to the library. They make the claim that they've "been there, done that." Want to make sure? You can have your students take the quiz as a pre-test and see how they do. If most of the class aces it, you can forgo the trek to Morgan. But if some students still need some help, have them work their way through the tutorials they need to brush up on and take the quiz again. Hopefully improvement of their library knowledge will be evident.

Entrée

You've hand-picked the ingredients for your entrée…the tutorials that seem most nutritious for your students. Assign the workbook just like you would any other assignment. Depending on how many tutorials you choose, this assignment could take your students anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 to consume. The automatically graded quiz sends the results for each student right to your e-mail address. Build it in to your WebCT course or online syllabus with a quick link.

Making Reservations

A simple visit, phone call or e-mail is all it takes to set up a Library Workbook. Contact Cathy with the following information:

  • Tutorials you'd like to include, selected from the menu above, found online at: http://lib.colostate.edu/tutorials
  • Your choice to have your e-mail address included in the quiz pull-down menu so students can directly send you their results.
  • We will reply quickly with a direct link to the Library Workbook created for your class. You have the option to post this link in WebCT, on your course web page, or print it in the syllabus for your class. There will also be a link off of the library's web page for your students.
