for the Upper Level Undergraduate
- Uses appropriate
search keywords, using database descriptors or subject headings
to revise and enhance searches
- Narrows, broadens,
or changes research question as informed by research results

specialized databases for specialized topics
- Constructs searches
appropriately using AND, OR, phrases, nesting, and truncation
- Uses online help

- Differentiates between
primary and secondary resources by discipline; finds primary
resources when appropriate or required
- Applies considerations
of authority, purpose, relevance, and point of view in selecting
and evaluating resources
- Determines the availability
of needed information and makes decisions on broadening the
information seeking process beyond local resources (e.g. interlibrary
loan, using resources at other locations)
- Develops a realistic
and overall plan and timeline to acquire the needed information
- Applies research
strategies and concepts to both academic and non-academic situations
(e.g. projects at work, graduate school research, issues in
personal life)
- Recognizes the necessity
