Information Literacy:
Librarians and Faculty Teaching Research Skills

Information Literacy

Are your students information literate?

An information literate student will "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information," according to the 2001 Association of College and Research Libraries competency standards (pdf). CSU's program for building information literate students requires librarians and faculty to work together to teach both introductory and advanced research skills.

First Year Seminars

  • Information Literacy Goals for First Year Seminar Students
  • Tour Options
    • Morgan Library is a hub of activity on the CSU Campus, providing students with a place to meet, study, check e-mail, and to conduct research. Introduce new students to the library building and services by using the self-guided tour, virtual Web tour or conducting your own tour using the instructor's guide.

CO150 Program

Every CSU student is required to take CO150, the basic composition course, usually during their first or second year.
