Welcome to Your Library!

Before you come in for some hands-on training, here are a few things you should do:

Step 1: Get connected with a library PIN number

  • A library PIN (which is totally separate from your eID and password) enables you to:
    • login and access library databases from off-campus
    • manage your library account online
    • reserve books
    • and more
  • To set up your library PIN, go here: https://catalog.library.colostate.edu/patroninfo
  • Having trouble setting up your PIN? No worries – just contact the Loan/Reserve desk for help.

Step 2: Check out the Library Catalog (also known as Sage)

  • The CSU Library Catalog (nicknamed Sage), is online at http://catalog.library.colostate.edu/
  • The Library Catalog lets you search by title, author, subject, etc. for books and more.
  • Having trouble finding what you need? Call or visit the Information Desk for help.

Step 3: Meet Prospector – your first source for anything we don’t own

  • Prospector is a regional library catalog that gives you access to items owned by other libraries in our geographic area.
  • To access Prospector, go to http://prospector.coalliance.org/ or click on the Prospector pick-axe icon when you’re using our Library Catalog.
  • Look up the item you want, login with your name and CSU ID, and it’ll be delivered to you here at CSU – absolutely free!
  • Watch for this button in the Library Catalog!
  • Click the Prospector button in our catalog to see if someone in our region owns the item.
