Requirements: Any laptop with an Ethernet port or a Network Interface Card (NIC) and a local area network LAN cable. VPN (Virtual Private Network) client software and a CSU EID or temporary VPN guest account are also required to access the wireless network.
Ethernet connector cables are available for check-out from the Loan & Reserve Desk, first floor.
Where to connect: Network data jacks for Internet access in the library are provided on the First Floor northwest, the Second Floor Journal Room northwest, and the Third Floor northwest. Look for the "Laptop Internet Access" signs above the study carrels in these areas. The orange network data jacks appear on wall plates and each jack is numbered. Be sure to connect to the lowest numbered orange network data jack on the wall plate (these are the jacks that are active).
How to Configure: If you are a university affiliate, make sure that your laptop is receiving a network signal. Start up the Internet browser. You will be automatically directed to the Academic and Computing Network Services VPN download web page. Click on the appropriate VPN client link and use your eID and password to authenticate. Follow the instructions for downloading and installing the VPN software. NOTE: Mac users must import the VPN client profiles. Restart your laptop. Click on the VPN client icon and then click “Connect”. Use your eID and password to authenticate for wireless network access.
If you are not affiliated with the university, VPN client software and temporary VPN guest accounts are available for check-out from the Loan & Reserve Desk, first floor.
