COMMENT RECEIVED 02-18-2008

Thanks for your service! 2 Things:

1) Make it so this form saves your input so that if I enter the anti-spam code on the bottom wrong, I don't have to retype my message. :-)

2) Implement an update to MS Office so it can use MS Works files. I was frustrated today when trying to view a .wps file at the library.

RESPONSE:

Thanks for submitting your comments.

I did forward your concerns about the comment form to our web people.  They are looking into the issue. At the outset, we could not duplicate the problem of text disappearing when returning to the screen after entering the wrong anti-spam code. However, our folks did find a java code error that they will address.

Also, a Microsoft Works converter has just been installed on all public desktop stations within the library. To open a Microsoft Works file, open Microsoft Word and then navigate to the location of the file.

Please note:

Double-clicking directly on the Works file icon will not open the document.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

COMMENT RECEIVED 02-07-2008

It's so nice to have some computers with work space around them (i.e., the stations in front of the reference desk, the stations close to the west windows), so that we can use papers, a book, etc., without crowding out the person next to us. Hope this is not a "temporary" situation.

THANKS!

RESPONSE:

Thank you for offering your thoughts on this latest configuration of computers in the library. We are planning to continue adding "low density" computer station seating to the first floor of the library whenever possible. We agree that more desk space offers greater flexibility and comfort for students doing their everyday research.
