COMMENT RECEIVED 02-21-2007:

Hi, I think that it would be nice if the single bathrooms located on each floor of the library were marked as co-ed instead of men and women. There is often a line outside one bathroom and no one in the other one. I checked out the one marked men today and it is identical to the one marked women. It would be an easy switch--you would just need new signs, and it would be a lot more convenient. Thanks for your consideration, and have a great day! Cathy.

RESPONSE:

Hi Cathy, This is a good suggestion. We will explore feasibility with the appropriate campus folks. The downside could be the varying degrees of cleanliness facility folks report throughout the day between Men's and Women's restrooms, especially the individual ones. Thanks for passing this idea along.

COMMENT RECEIVED 02-20-2007:

I was recently on the 4th floor of the library, and I noticed it was dirty, with various trash items around, carpet that was falling apart (although this appears to be a problem throughout the library, there were areas up there that hadn't been "fixed" with duct tape), and several book racks and other objects lying in the aisles, which might make it hard for some to get to the materials. Overall, the library always seems "messy", with furniture scattered everywhere, book carts parked in major access points (like near the stairs on the lower level), making the library appear very claustrophobic.

RESPONSE:

Thanks for your comment. As building proctor, I will have my student staff handle the carpet issues with duct tape for the short-term. I will also report the remaining issues to Facilities Management supervisors so that they can focus more attention on this space. Aisles and egress points should remain clear of carts and debris. I will share with other staff who maintain those items. Thanks for helping us keep the library safe for all!

James Farmer, CSU Libraries Building Proctor
