COMMENT RECEIVED 12-10-2007:
Do you not have a real suggestion box in the library anymore? I looked around just casually today when there and saw did not see it, or the notebook which used to be on one of the counters to give responses to the suggestions.
Looking at this book used to be one of my favorite diversions when visiting the library. Also, I notice that you have very few (compared to the past) suggestions and answers in the online version of the suggestion box. Some months have nothing at all. Do you think you are limiting the commentary by not having an actual box in the lobby?
I also found this feature a bit confusing to find in the new online format.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for sending us your comments about the suggestion boxes. We removed the black suggestions boxes over a year ago because they were not being used. The number of suggestions that we received in all the boxes dropped to one or two a year. We removed the suggestion response book and moved it online in an effort to clear some of the clutter from our service desk.
The number of suggestions that we received electronically has also been dropping. This is reflected in the decreased number of responses on our web page. We have moved the online suggestion box to the front of our web page in order to make it easier to find.

COMMENT RECEIVED 12-07-2007:
Why is it that in the early morning hours that the loan desk is the only service desk which is open and operating, while the information desk is not. There have been a number of times when I needed assistance from the information desk about retrieving my files or problems with printing before my 8:00am class but no one is there when the library actually opens. This service is not customer friendly.
RESPONSE:
We are sorry you did not find a staff member at the desk when you needed assistance. The Information Desk opens every Monday through Friday at 7:30 am. If desk staff are not present, they may be assisting other users in the computer area, reference collection book stacks, or providing location assistance in another area of the library.
We encourage the Info Desk staff to work with library users where ever they can be most effective. You may find short periods throughout the day when all desk staff are assisting library users and the desk appears to be unstaffed. Tom Moothart
