COMMENT RECEIVED 08-03-2007:

To Whom It May Concern:

I would appreciate it if the powers at be would bring back the type writers. I liked to use these mechanized friends not for just transferring my notes but for existentialist stream of conscious like witting that I have recently fallen into. I am an atrocious speller who is distracted by my errors, when I flow to the gentle ease of the type writer I can go at my own pace with my idea or thought uninterrupted. When I am forced to use this supplicated silicone snake oil device it hinders my ability to be free and uninhibited by my stigma of 'typos' and errors.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

RESPONSE:

Maintaining old technology such as typewriters is always difficult and sometimes increasingly costly. In terms of a cost/benefit, it was decided that keeping public typewriters was not a effective management of our resources at this time.

By way of suggestion, when composing a document on our public computers you can turn off all spelling and grammar corrective notifications in Microsoft Word. Please stop by the Information Desk during your next visit to the library and staff will be happy to show you how to disable the annoying interruptions.

Thanks for your comment.
