COMMENT RECEIVED on 2-3-2006: Okay, one of the lights in the men´s bathroom in the SE corner of the 3rd floor has been burnt out for a couple weeks now. Have the custodians not noticed, or do they just like the dark atmosphere it creates?
RESPONSE: Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. I am forwarding your email to our Building Proctor so this can be corrected.

COMMENT RECEIVED on 2-7-2006: I was just wondering where the library gets its funding for new books, journal subscriptions, computer/printer usage, etc.
RESPONSE: The money to purchase materials for the library comes from several sources. The majority of the dollars expended on materials come from state-allocated dollars for electronic resources, monographs and serials. We also have special funds from flood recovery insurance dollars, grants, and endowments that are used to purchase library materials as well as fund other services. The public PC's found in the EIC/EIL and throughout the library, and laptops that are available for checkout are funded by the Student Technology Fees.
Let me know if you have any further questions or need clarification.

COMMENT RECEIVED on 2-9-2006: Metalib - It would have been nicer had there not been the barrage of SFX. Therefore, I don´t see how it´s any different that using SAGE... The databases were a much better option in general. I mean, there´s the option on the databases page to look through specific areas. It just seems redundant.
RESPONSE: Thank you for your comments about MetaLib. I must admit that I am not sure I understand your message. While SAGE, SFX, and MetaLib provide some overlap, each one is quite different. SAGE, the Libraries' catalog, provides access to books and most of the periodical titles the library has in its collections (some of our electronic journals do have yet have records in SAGE). SAGE does not contain references to individual articles found in those periodicals. When students want to identify journal articles on their research topics, we refer them to our databases, most of which are periodical indexes. We currently subscribe to over 400 databases that were carefully selected to meet the curricular and research needs of the Colorado State University community.
SFX allows researchers to determine if a specific item is available in electronic full-text. If it is not, researchers can readily check SAGE to determine if is in the Libraries' print collections or request delivery of a book, article or document through interlibrary loan.
Users, for example, can click on the SFX symbol in specific citations in individual databases for items that interest them to determine availability. They can also use Citation Linker to find out if specific journal titles are available online or in our print collections. There are several links to Citation Linker in our Web site; I usually access it on our Databases page. Unlike SFX, MetaLib allows users to select subject areas and perform searches in several databases at once. These subject areas include: agriculture; arts and humanities; education, general sources; biological sciences; ethnicity and gender; engineering; business; and natural resources.

COMMENT RECEIVED on 2-25-2006: I realize that the library has several laptops, but it would be great if there was some way that clocks could be updated so that they had the correct time.
RESPONSE: Thank you for submitting your comment. Our library technology service is aware of the problem and they are working to address it as soon as possible.
