Areas to Support:

Thanks to the donation of Warren and Genevieve (Genny) Garst, CSU Libraries have attained almost 20,000 wildlife slides providing a fascinating glimpse into the environment, beauty, and habitats of 700 animal species photographed in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The Garsts photographed these animals during their twenty-five years with Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, the popular nature program for which Warren served as chief photographer.

Since Colorado State University Libraries aquired this collection in 1999, 1340 selected slides have been digitized and made available on the Web with the support of a grant from Colorado Digitization Project and generous donors. The Garst Photographic Collection's interactive Web site has become a key part of the curriculum in classrooms at the K-12 level throughout the United States and Canada. Your help is still needed to raise an additional $125,000 to further enhance this important educational resource. Funds raised will allow Colorado State University Libraries to:

  • develop enhanced educational units and modules for K-12 educators
  • host a summer seminar for teachers to provide training on web-based cirriculum
  • and collaborate with experts to enhance the website with educational standards in mind
