Water Resources Archive

Primary Research Made Possible

“As current and future Colorado citizens face increasingly complex water policy and management challenges, it is critical that we understand how and why Colorado and the West established the current water management policies and institutions. The Archive provides this store of water knowledge.”

—Robert Ward, Former Director Colorado Water Resources Research Institute

Areas to Support

Water is an essential resource for the continued wealth and development of our state. In order to help Coloradoans face the challenge of managing our precious water resources in the ensuing century, policy makers, educators and the public must have access to reliable information and accurate resources that reflect Colorado’s water history.

The Water Resources Archive at Colorado State University Libraries is committed to acquiring and preserving those materials and making those materials available for the public to use. Housed in the Morgan Library on the Colorado State University campus, the Water Resources Archive is home to the materials of ten organizations and twenty three individuals whose work is critical to Colorado’s water history. These records are open year-round for public study and our Archives and Special Collections staff are onsite to assist patrons with their research.

Your support will help the Libraries to develop and enhance the Water Resources Archive by:

  • Obtaining additional public and private collections to continue to build the Archive
  • Process, maintain, preserve and enhance the collections and an Archive Web Site
  • Expand and customize the current Web site for access by diverse audiences
  • Form key collaborative agreements and partnerships to enhance the collection
  • Encourage greater use of the archive by hosting outreach events
