To collect, manage and provide access to library materials to support the teaching and research program of the Department of Geosciences. The department offers courses of study leading to the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Curricular concentrations are in geology and environmental geology.
Geographic: Emphasis on the United States.
Chronological: Mostly current materials; some selective historical material.
Publication types and levels: Current publications from primarily university and scholarly presses. Some retrospective materials, particularly serials or monographic series, are occasionally acquired.
Journals, monographs, technical reports, data bases, and maps. CSUL, as a federal depository library, receives a large amount of geological information, including geological maps, from the U.S. Geological Survey and other federal and state agencies. No audiovisual material is collected. Undergraduate textbooks and dissertations are generally excluded.
