Fishery and Wildlife Biology: Collection Development Policy

Purpose

To collect, manage, and provide access to library materials to support the academic and research programs of the Fishery and Wildlife Biology Department which offers courses leading to the bachelor of science, master of science, and doctor of philosophy degrees. The wildlife biology program and fishery biology program continue to rank as one of top two programs in the country. Three research groups are associated with the program: the Larval Fish laboratory, the Colorado Natural Heritage Program, and the Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Unit. Curricular emphasis includes fishery biology, wildlife biology, ecosystem management, wildlife habitat evaluation, riparian habitats, changing distributions of coldwater fishes, and wildlife-human conflicts.

Fishery and Wildlife Biology materials also support other departments in the College of Natural Resources and additional areas including forestry, rangeland, hydrology, ecology, soil and crop sciences, bioagricultural sciences and pest management, geosciences, horticulture, and landscape design. Library materials support the education and research conducted by Cooperative Extension.
