The Veterinary Branch Library was established in 1979 through a generous donation by the Harry E. Kingman family. The collection is designed to serve the faculty, staff, and students at the Veterinary
Medical Center, emphasizing clinical medical
and veterinary literature, including books, journals, and other materials
that support the teaching and research missions of the hospital.
The program in Veterinary medicine at Colorado State University is divided between two locations:
first and second-year students are instructed on the main campus, while
third and fourth-year students are located at the Veterinary Medical
Center. The Library collection in the area of veterinary medicine
and related subjects is also divided; that part of the collection
supporting first and second-year courses, as well as other departments
within the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is
located at Morgan Library on the main campus.
The collection at the branch library is made up of approximately 10,000 volumes,
including 5,600 bound journal volumes and 4,600 books. The branch has
current subscriptions to 93 journals, and electronic access to any
journal available through CSU Libraries, including an additional 91
veterinary journals.
Patrons can request that any book or journal article in the collection at Morgan Library be delivered to the branch; this usually takes a day.
