Maps for Business & Econ Researchers

Welcome back to campus everyone! Over the break I became familiar with the Libraries map collection and other map resources and while doing so came across a couple of free online resources that may be of interest to business and economics researchers and students. Social Explorer maps census data from 1790 to 2007. GeoFRED is produced by the St.Louis Fed and maps additional data such as tax collections, unemployment, and housing data. Both products are relatively interactive and allow for downloading of data. To access:

Social Explorer
Note this site has a public and a subscriber component. Go directly to maps tab at the top to access public/free component. Also, it looks as though 2007 census data has not been loaded yet.

GeoFRED
Once in, click on "edit data/layers" to change and choose data series.

Enjoy!
