Regional GDP Information

Yesterday, September 27th, The Denver Post's Business section had a report on the new metropolitan area GDP report released earlier this week by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The Denver Post has a site that provides this information for metro areas around the country. Also included in this information is the percent change in GDP by industry sector from 2001 to 2005.

Also worthwhile - explore the Bureau of Economic Analysis' website where you can find international, national, regional, and industry sector economic information.

Gigapan

I discovered this website this morning via a post on BusinessWeek Online with the entirely provacative title of "Gigapan: Don't click this site if you want to get anything done today." Hard to resist. Gigapan is a most excellent website of images that you can zoom around within. This is a development of the Global Connection Project with partners that include Carnegie Mellon, Google, and NASA Ames Research Center. Check it out at:

International Consortium of Real Estate Associations

While looking for international real estate information for a colleague this summer, I came across this website from the International Consortium of Real Estate Associations. From first glance, it looks as though it's just another site with real estate listings. However, the link under the "Country Info" area provides valuable information on commerical and residential real estate business practices and ethics in 25 countries. This site is definitely worth checking out if you are considering investing in real estate abroad or researching the international real estate market.

New York Times

The New York Times has announced that as of the evening of Tuesday, September 18th, they will no longer be charging for portions of their web site, specifically the TimesSelect portion. The newspaper is moving to an advertising based revenue model. Older articles, those in the public domain (1851 to 1922), will be freely available as well.

CSU Libraries provides full-text access to The New York Times via the ProQuest Historical Newspapers database. Coverage is from 1851 and includes the PDFs of pages. The database is located under the New York Times in the Research Databases title list.

Assignment Calculator

Wondering where to start with your research assignment? Not at all organized? The Library undergrad and grad webpages now have an assignment calculator feature. This tool allows you to input a start and due date for an assignment. Once entered, the results page helps to structure your work on an assignment with links to helpful web sites. You can also enter your email, so that you get reminders to, hopefully, keep you on track. Scroll down on each of the following pages to find the assignment calculator.
