Craft beer industry resources

Frequently, I get questions from students researching the beer industry and, in particular, the craft or micro brew industry. Here's some places to start when researching this topic.

Places to start in your research:

  • Brewer's Association of America

There are some craft brew stats here such as number of barrels, sales volume, etc.
  • Beer Institute

Quite a few stats here under the "Research" tab on the top of the homepage. Gallon consumption, shipments, productions, per capital consumption, alcohol expenditures.
  • North American Beer Industry

  • HD9397 .A1 N67 2007 Ref
This book is in our reference collection. There is a good section on craft brewers with sales and market size stats.

    Other possible sources:

  • Best Customers: Demographics of Consumer Demand

  • HC79 .C6 R87 2005 Ref
This book takes products and looks at average household spending on the product by age ranges. It also breaks this into market share. Look under "Beer and Ale at Home" and "Beer and Ale away from Home."
  • Beer Marketer's Insights

    Wide range of industry data.
  • The U.S. Brewing Industry: Data and economic analysis

  • HD9397 .U52 T73 2005
  • North American Beer Industry

  • HD9397 .A1 N67 2007 Ref
