Changing Climates @ CSU

The Changing Climates @ CSU colloquium provides programs on the Climate Change Problem: A High-Level Primer. Topics include Climate Change at Pingree Park, Biological and Ecological Effects, and the Human Costs.

Science Librarians and Scholarly Communication

The Summer 2007 issue of ISTL (Issues in Science and Technology LIbrarianship) includes an article by Elizabeth C. Turtle and Martin P. Courtois on the importance of science librarians in the scholarly communication process. Quoting Turtle and Courtois, "It is our view that the range of issues being addressed under the umbrella of scholarly communication offers tremendous opportunity to expand access to scientific information".

RamWeb Email Addresses Used for Library Communications

Is your current email address listed in RamWeb?

The CSU Libraries now sends email communication to students, faculty, and staff via the email address that is on file with the University in their RamWeb account (https://ramweb.colostate.edu/index.aspx). You no longer have to provide your email address to the Libraries when you register your PIN. The Libraries will automatically use the address on file via RamWeb. Be sure to update the email address listed in RamWeb .

New Database: Index to American Botanical Literature

Index to American Botanical Literature (vendor: NY Botanical Garden): According to NYBG, "The Index contains entries dealing with various aspects of extant and fossil American plants and fungi, including systematics and floristics, morphology, and ecology, as well as economic botany and general botany (publications dealing with botanists, herbaria, etc.). The searchable database includes all those entries published in the Index since 1996, and thus includes botanical literature appearing since late 1995."

The September Project

In commemoration of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, the Colorado State University Libraries is proud to take part in The September Project, a collection of over 520 libraries in all 50 states and 29 countries worldwide hosting events to celebrate freedom, democracy and active citizenship.

National Digital Library for Agriculture--Comments Please

The National Agriculture Library is seeking comments on the "concept design" for the NDLA. http://www.nal.usda.gov/ndla/

The goals of the design are:

To establish the NDLA as a collaborative partnership-based initiative;
*To provide easy and quick searching of databases as well as Websites relevant to agriculture
* To highlight information available from an array of partnering institutions
*To provide access to a wide variety of information types and resources such as Web sites, databases, weather information, genetic data, images and photographs, citation information, statistics, advice, and the full texts of digital publications.

We are interested in your opinions on ease of use, content, and overall design.
