Biology Search Engines

Elsevier and Thomson ISI each offer free online, science-specific search engines. Biology Browser is the Thomson product and indexes websites that are of interest to researchers in the life sciences. Biology Browser is searchable by organism, geographic region or subject. Scirus claims to be "the most comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet....Scirus searches over 250 million science-specific Web pages." Scirus is particularly strong on patent searches.
