Wes Short: "This is Wes Short. This is Jessica Helms. Um. To start out, um, where you from?"
Jessica Helms: "I'm, well, from, Aurora, kind of."

Wes Short: "And um, you got any siblings?"
Jessica Helms: "One sister."

Wes Short: "Still? Really?"
Jessica Helms: "Yes."

Wes Short: "Ummm." "Are you in school?"
Jessica Helms: "I am a Junior."

Wes Short: "What are you majoring in?"
Jessica Helms: "Music Education."

Wes Short: "Geez. You're gonna be poor."
Jessica Helms: "Poorer than you."

Wes Short: "And how did you meet me?"
Jessica Helms: "How did I meet you? Well, do you want the very beginning or when we started dating?"

Wes Short: "Yes."
Jessica Helms: "Alright. I met you - I believe it was our Sophomore year of high school. I met you in the office and you kept" [indistinct] "my name and calling me 'Jennica'. Aaand we started dating when we went to Winterfest because" [indistinct] "And we were friends and we started dating 3 ½ years ago."

Wes Short: "Cool. Let's see. Why did you choose CSU?"
Jessica Helms: "Believe it or not, it was not because I was following you. I chose CSU because."

Wes Short: "Can we get a lie-detector here?"
Jessica Helms: "I was going to go to UNC. I went up and had my audition, and it went terribly, and they treated me like crap. So, I came here 'cause I seriously - I didn't want to go to CU and I didn't have enough money to go to DU. And I didn't really want to go anywhere else; so, I came here, auditioned, and that's where I am."

Wes Short: "What do you want from your CSU experience?"
Jessica Helms: "I would also like a degree, um, I dunno. I want to make friends-I mean, I have friends already, but, you know. That's one thing everyone always says-'Oh, you know, you meet friends in college that you'll have for the rest of your life, that you just keep in touch with. I think that's partially true because I have more friends at CSU than I did in high-school that I can actually see myself talking to in 10 years. Um., but, yeah, that's probably it."

Wes Short: "What was your first meal on campus like?"
Jessica Helms: "I don't remember the exact food, but yes, it was good. And I remember liking the dessert, and I had like, two or three desserts because of my sweet-tooth. Um, and it was pretty good, and then I lived in Newsome and all they had was chicken every night. And though I absolutely love chicken, it got really old, so, yeah."

Wes Short: "What were your first impressions of campus?"
Jessica Helms: "Well, when I first came up here, I remember thinking 'Wow. It's not all cloudy and gloomy and disgusting like UNC-it's more like home'. And after being here for a while I was like 'wow! It's really pretty up here,' even though I'm not much of a nature-person, but, yeah."

Wes Short: "And what do you miss about home?"
Jessica Helms: "Pets, although I have my cat now, and my dad, 'cause I haven't talked to my dad. I miss being able to talk to him because he's not a phone-talker. But other than that.Oh, and a [indistinct] that [indistinct]."

Both talking: [indistinct]

Wes Short: "Um. Let's see. Do you have any advice for your future-self?"

Jessica Helms: "Not-like you said-not worry so much, 'cause I worry a lot, and then I think back and think 'What was I worried about? That wasn't even important whatsoever.' That, and just, instead of constantly looking forward to something a lot, just being a little bit more."

Wes Short: "This concludes our interview with Jessica Anne Helms of Music Education at CSU. Thank you and good-night."
