Charles O. Neidt, 1979 - 1981 |
Interim Presidents of Colorado State University |
|
Neidt first came to CSU in 1962 and established the Human Factors Research Laboratory. In 1966, the lab helped to develop a long-term institutional plan for CSU. Neidt worked closely with A. R. Chamberlain, then an administrator under President William Morgan. After Chamberlain succeeded Morgan in 1969, he appointed Neidt academic vice president. Blessed with an uncommon knack for administration, Neidt had the ability to analyze problems and efficiently find workable solutions. He complemented Chamberlain's specialized skills involving budgets and sponsored research by encouraging a more rounded institutional mission for CSU. He became acting president in 1979, improving programs that he had helped to develop and providing capable transitional leadership.
