Created to support the needs of Colorado's ditch companies, the Ditch and Reservoir Company Alliance (DARCA) was founded in November 2001 in Silverthorne, Colorado. The alliance is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to assisting companies that deliver Colorado water, including ditch and reservoir companies, lateral ditch companies, irrigation districts, and all other types of private ditch associations. DARCA provides education on management, easement and water rights, real estate laws, Geographic Information System (GIS) possibilities, and other water-related issues. DARCA holds an annual convention and various workshops and provides monthly newsletters to keep members well informed and connected.
Founding board members include Matt Cook, Bob Krugmire, Jill Baty, Phil Bertrand, Ron Brinkman, Don Chapman, Jeris Danielson, Janet Enge, and John McKenzie. In 2001, the alliance had two dozen ditch companies as members. In 2007, membership included over 80 companies and over 50 individual, corporate, and institutional memberships.

The Records of DARCA consists of documents dated 2001 to 2007. The collection includes meeting minutes, convention programs, brochures, newsletters, news clippings and a resolution. Topics include Colorado water rights, means for water acquisitioning and dispersal, possibilities of GIS use for ditch companies, and financial advice. The collection is expected to grow.

Records of DARCA, Water Resources Archive, Colorado State University.
The Records of DARCA was acquired by the Water Resources Archive in November 2003. The first accession was donated by the executive director of DARCA, Karen Rademacher. A second accession was received in April 2007.
Materials were placed in acid-free folders and stored in an acid-free box. Metal fasteners were removed and replaced with plastic clips.
