History

The Colorado Grain and Feed Association promotes the commercial and economic interests of its members, as well as greater cooperation and general good will within the larger agricultural industry. The organization was created in 1925 as the Colorado Grain, Milling and Feed Dealers Association. In 1945 the association approved a new constitution, indicating at least a minor reorganization. Following a revision of the constitution in 1951, the Colorado Grain, Milling and Feed Dealers Association was incorporated as a non-profit corporation. The name was changed in 1962 to the Colorado Grain and Feed Dealers Association and again in 1971 to the Colorado Grain and Feed Association.

Membership consists of individuals, firms, corporations and cooperatives engaged in the production or distribution of grains or grain products such as flour, meal, and commercial feeds. The association's efforts are guided by its fifteen-member board of directors. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the Colorado Grain and Feed Association continues to embrace the commitment to foster cooperation for the stabilization and improvement of the grain and feed industry.

Administrative Information

Preferred Citation

Records of the Colorado Grain and Feed Association, Colorado Agricultural Archive, Colorado State University.

Acquisition

The Records of the Colorado Grain and Feed Association was donated to the Colorado Agricultural Archive by Paula Geary, Executive Director for the Association, on July 1, 1981. The Colorado Agricultural Archive became part of the Colorado State University Libraries in 2004.

Processing

The collection was received in disorder, although an original order could be discerned from the numbering system on folder labels. A new series arrangement was created which corresponded generally to the original filing system, and files within each series were grouped together. During processing, documents were re-housed in acid-free file folders and boxes. Rubber bands and paperclips were removed, and news clippings within scrapbooks were photocopied onto acid-free paper. Photographs were housed in protective sleeves and placed in the photograph series.
