Government Documents are publications issued by a government agency. CSU has federal documents, Colorado documents, and CSU documents in print, microfiche, CD-ROMs, DVDs and online titles.
Most print documents are shelved on the 3rd and 4th floors south. Journals are in the far north part of the Journal Room. Reference Documents are shelved in the DOC REF area on the far west end of the Reference section on 1st Floor. There are also Government Documents located at the Atmospheric and Veterinary branch libraries, as well as at the Lake Street Depository (Storage). The microfiche and Elec Media collections are located in the Journal Room.
The Sage location will be DOCUMENTS, COLORADO DOCS, or DOC REF. However, ELEC MEDIA and MICROTEXT FICHE also contain many documents. Document journals will have the location of JOURNAL ROOM. Titles not specified as documents in the location can be identified by their different call number style.
Government documents receive a different kind of call number. Unlike the majority of items in Morgan Library, which receive Library of Congress (LC) call numbers according to subject matter, government documents have Superintendent of Documents (SuDoc) call numbers that are assigned according to the agency that publishes the publication.
We receive a variety of publications from the Colorado State Library. The Colorado Documents are shelved on the 3rd floor south, and have their own unique call number system.
The map collection is located on the 1st floor south. Folded maps are shelved and are labeled by call number. Flat maps are shelved in drawers in maps cases. Maps are filed by call number and type of map. The vast majority of maps in the collection are government issued maps. Each map series is clearly marked with signs on the map cases.
