Undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff must use their NEW University-issued identification card as their official library card. Community borrowers and affiliate faculty are issued an official library identification card upon completion and acceptance of an application card. Minors (under-18 years old), who are in the 6th grade or above, may apply for a card with parental/guardian co-signature. Community borrowers and minors must be residents of Colorado and provide identification as such. Valid forms of I.D. are a current Colorado Driver's License or State I.D., a valid Passport, a valid U.S. Military I.D. Your ID/CSU library card is for you and only you. Do not lend your card to anyone else because you are responsible for whatever books are checked out to your card. Cards are non-transferable. Your library card is good for one year and must be renewed in person upon expiration.
Faculty/Staff cards are transferable to other individuals; therefore, it is critical that you report lost/stolen cards immediately. To make the transferable option more flexible, the Libraries also offers a Faculty/Staff Authorization plan. Beginning September 1 and running through the following August 31, you may authorize any number of users to check out materials on your library account. Often, this will be graduate assistants or family members. Please note that the Libraries tracks ONLY the individuals who may check-out for you NOT the items they check out. Any item checked out by an authorized individual is your responsibility whether it is in your personal possession or not. It is critical you keep your authorization list up to date and remove anyone whose authorization is no longer valid. Authorizations automatically expire August 31 of each year and you must re-authorize at that time. Authorization forms are available from the Loan/Reserve Desk for you to sign or you may download and print the PDF format below to fill out and bring in to the Loan/Reserve Desk.
The Colorado State University Libraries has agreements with many libraries in the region which allow our customers to use their materials. The Colorado Library Card (CLC) is one example of the agreements which exist. It is advisable to call ahead to the library you plan to visit in order to obtain information about whether that library extends privileges to you and to determine what is required to obtain a library card (driver's license, student ID, proof of address, etc.). When returning CSU books at another library or when returning other library books to CSU, please, be advised that not all institutions provide receipts. Some lending libraries have strict policies for the return of their books. For your protection, please carefully read all rules and regulations provided by the library.

Privileges are granted for any item checked out at the Morgan Library Loan/Reserve Desk or any of the branch libraries. Individuals from these institutions should bring proof of faculty status, Driver's License and proof of address (if not current on license) when applying for a CSU Library card.
