Generating thousands of citations a year, Nature has been one of the most respected scientific journals since it was first published in 1869. Now, you can access articles in Nature online dating back to the 1950s.
With a mission to serve scientists through prompt publication of significant advances, CSU Libraries has provided campus with access to this important journal since our own inception in 1870 and printed versions dating back to those original years can be found in the Morgan Library’s bound journal collection. In 2002, CSU Libraries began providing access to the electronic version of Nature, yet at that time only six years of Nature were available online.
Now without having to leave your computer, you can access groundbreaking articles first published in Nature like James Watson and Francis Crick’s article that first reported their discovery of the double helix structure of DNA published in 1953.
“Ranked fifteenth among all scientific journals in terms of impact factor, expanding our online collection of Nature has been on our faculty’s most wanted list for some time,” says Librarian Mike Culbertson, Librarian Liaison to the College of Engineering. “Now CSU faculty, staff, and students can access nearly 60 years of Nature articles online.”
Log on to read Watson and Crick’s article (http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v171/n4356/index.html) and other important discoveries published in Nature from 1950 to the present.
(Off campus users may be prompted to the Libraries authentication login screen prior to viewing articles. You will be asked to enter your name, CSU ID, and PIN. Help with off-campus access is available at http://lib.colostate.edu/users/distance/faq.html.)
