CSU Libraries is proud to announce that McGraw Hill’s Access Science is now available online for the CSU community. Based on the 10th Edition of The Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, the electronic version offers fully searchable content. It gathers and synthesizes vast amounts of information, and organizes it to give fast, easy and accurate access to authoritative articles in all major areas of science and technology. Now, it will be easier than ever for CSU students, faculty, and staff to find what they’re looking for and put it to use quickly.
“Access Science, the online McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of science & technology, is a fabulous resource for students, faculty, and staff. It covers important scientific information in a way that is engaging and readable,” notes Allison Level, College Liaison Librarian. “Online it is available remotely and 24/7, it is accessible where and when researchers need it. “
This long-anticipated acquisition was made possible this fall through the careful allocation of the Libraries' serials budget. Recognizing the importance of online access to resources, the Libraries now spends nearly two thirds of its materials budget on electronic resources. Recent private donations as well as partnerships with consortia have enabled CSU Libraries to leverage monies and purchase more of these highly desired and highly costly items.
"We want to keep up with the speed of discovery,” notes Patricia Smith, Coordinator for Collections and Contracts at CSU Libraries. “Making resources available electronically makes a big difference in teaching and learning because it opens doors and makes information available virtually anywhere-- in labs, classrooms, dorms, homes or offices.”
CSU students, faculty and staff now have online access to Access Science via the Libraries Web site.
