Photography is a powerful medium that influences our interpretation of history and many people rely on photographs to learn about the past.
How can we “read” photographs to learn about the past? What if we lack written or textual information about a photograph? Often internal clues in the images themselves can guide us to a greater understanding of the photograph and the context in which it was created, opening windows to history.
Come to the Archives to check out our new exhibit featuring historic photographs and clothing and learn how you can start unraveling your own picture puzzles!
The reading room is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and the exhibit will run through the end of June.
