GOAL 1: INFORMATION DISCOVERY AND DELIVERY SERVICES
The CSU Libraries is an organization that constantly improves the information discovery/delivery services and tools it provides for faculty, students, and staff.
STRATEGY 1.1: Improve discovery tools and search systems
Key Events for Implementation:
- Evaluate meta-search service options (i.e. reduce search silos) and make a recommendation to LPG.
- Evaluate faceted search result display options and make a recommendation to Libraries Planning Group
- Evaluate options to include user supplied metadata (i.e. tags, recommendations, reviews) in information discovery service and search result displays. Make recommendations to Libraries Planning Group.
- Reduce the number of separate log-in required by library users (e.g. Sage, ILL, Ereserve, individual research databases, etc.).
- Improve the Libraries Web pages in accordance with usability research and local testing.
- Evaluate the use of server virtualization or equivalent technology to create scalable server support infrastructure.

- Add participants to RAPID.
- Add functionality to RAPID.
- Promote open access.
- Facilitate discovery of open access journals.
